English for Teaching Children (EFTC)

This course will introduce you to the skills needed to teach English to young learners. If you expect to be teaching English to younger students, this course will give you excellent preparation and lots of practical ideas and activities. This course would complement those who have completed Viva College’s Certificate IV TESOL course.

Course Content:
  1. Develop an awareness of issues and practices related to teaching English to young learners
  2. Develop classroom presentation and organizational skills for teaching English to young learners
Course Length:

       4 weeks (25 hours per week)

Course Intake Dates:

2008 - 14 January, 10 March, 2 June, 28 July, 20 October

2009 - EFTC will not be offered.

Course Fees:

$1460 ($1200 course + $160 enrolment fee + $100 materials fee)

* Materials fee include textbooks, in- class materials and learning resources

Entry Requirements:

Current Viva Students:

  • IELTS 5.0 or equivalent OR
  • Completed Viva’s Intermediate (4) level + teacher’s report/ recommendation
  • No entry test and interview required

External students:

  • IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
  • Required to do an entry test and interview
